Among the former champions, GM Levon Aronian (USA), the only two-time winner of this event is taking part. The winner's trophy is named Viswanathan Anand Trophy, after the legend, India's first Grandmaster ever. Who will win the entire event and etch their name in the history? Highest number of Indians in Round 1
The reigning FIDE Women's World Cup 2025 winner, GM Divya Deshmukh drew the color black. It means odd number seeded players will get the black pieces in Round 1 Game 1. The biggest change in tie-break games from the previous edition of World Cup is, sudden death Game which is a modified version of Armageddon. White gets 4 minutes + 2 seconds. Both players submit the bid which cannot be more than 4 minutes. The player who submits the lowest time wins the bid and plays with Black. If the sudden death game is drawn, black wins the match.
